Project Summary

UCSB’s Recreation Center consists of three buildings providing space for a variety of activities including basketball, racquetball, squash, rock climbing wall, cardio fitness, weight rooms, spa, locker rooms, classrooms, and administrative offices. In parallel with campus-wide sustainability achievements, the facility is highly efficient with regard to energy and water consumption, employs automatic controls for lighting activities, and follows comprehensive sustainable operations policies.  Initially achieving LEED-EB: O&M certification at the Silver level, the Recreation Center made many improvements in operations and systems to achieve a recertification at a higher level.
