Project Summary

Ben Franklin Academy (BFA) is a K-9 charter school serving Douglas County, Colorado.  BFA utilizes science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) principles as a foundation for education and activities, and provides character education modeled after Ben Franklin’s Thirteen Virtues.  In the fall of 2012, the BFA Green Team was established to implement sustainable initiatives on campus and provide education to the BFA academic community.  The implementation of a Comprehensive Waste Management Program has resulted in active education of all students, integration into classrooms and curriculum, and increase in quantity of recycling removed from campus and diverted from the landfill.
