The Recycling Program Continues at Ben Franklin Academy
As we near the start to another school year, Tiffany Beffel of iWORKSHOP is working to get the recycling program at Ben Franklin Academy (BFA) in full swing. Through a national grant program to become an Eco School, Tiffany was able to apply for and receive recycling, trash, and compost labels to utilize throughout the campus. These labels identify what items can go into each bin and will help to streamline waste reduction efforts. Tiffany will be heading to the campus the week before school begins to make sure all bins throughout the building are clearly and correctly labeled.
Once the school year begins, Tiffany will be working to establish a Ben Franklin Academy Green Team. The BFA Green Team will be comprised of students, parents, teachers, administrative faculty, and facilities personnel. Collaborating with individuals from all areas of the school ensures a fully integrated team able to make the best decisions possible for the campus. One of the first items on the agenda is participation in Green Apple Day of Service, scheduled to take place on September 29, 2012. As our pledge, we will be conducting education and outreach of BFA’s recycling efforts and providing students and families with information surrounding energy and resource efficiency at BFA’s annual Science Expo. What will you do with your neighborhood school to take part in Green Apple Day of Service?
