The Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) Program comes to Colorado!

Working with IKOLOJI Sustainability Collaborative, Tiffany Beffel, Managing Partner of Innovative Workshop, will be the new Lead Instructor for the Mile High Sustainable Building Advisor Program (MHSBAP) in Colorado.  IKOLOJI is the Arizona Provider for the program and in 2009, launched the Sonoran Sustainable Building Advisor Program (SoSBAP).  The purpose of the program is to provide professionals with a solid foundation of the need to make our built environment more sustainable and to validate knowledge gained through the course with the Certified Sustainable Building Advisor (CSBA) exam and professional designation.
The Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) program is overseen by the Sustainable Building Advisor Institute (SBAi), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization incorporated in Washington State.  As of 2011, the course is offered in 27 locations nationwide and Canada, with more locations continuing to be added. Since 1999, over 1,250 students have graduated from the course and since 2005, over 850 have passed the exam and earned the CSBA designation.
The class meets one Friday and Saturday each month over a nine-month period, focuses on various unit topics surrounding sustainability, engages local industry experts for instruction, and allows for hands-on exercises and site visits that have implemented sustainable design strategies.  Students work on group project throughout the nine months, applying concepts and strategies they have learned throughout.  Many of these projects become viable LEED certified projects.  As a result of completing the program, students gain the knowledge, experience, and resources needed to have a competitive advantage in this growing industry.
Tiffany was previously a guest instructor for SoSBAP in Arizona and is honored to work with IKOLOJI to bring the program’s success to Colorado.  Tiffany will be taking the exam to earn the CSBA designation and is excited to inspire and educate others of our growing need to live, work, and build more sustainably.
You are invited to our information session for the MHSBAP on January 19, 2012 from 11:30am – 1:00pm at the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado (Download Info Session Flyer).  Come and learn more about the program and why it might be a good fit for you!
